Out past Martinborough on the lower East side of the North Island is a wild yet well known streatch of coast called White Rock. The area offers excelent surf to people far and wide and the DOC hutt provides a welcomed shelter.

These images are all origionally black and white although some have been coloured for effect. More photographs for this event can be found at www.chillivodka.com.

Cloud Lines
Cloud Lines
behind the hills and the offshore breeze strengthens, long fingers of cloud are dragged across the sky, groping into the East with the dying rays of the sun.

Long Branch
Long Branch
Perspective plays a major role in many of my images. I like the idea of being able to present an everyday scene from a unique point of view, my perspective. This image was taken using a wide angle lense and looking down a long branch.

Beach Bones
Beach Bones
The landscape at White Rock is extremely rugged an unforgiving, scattered boulders and broken rock offer habitat to only the hardiest of organisms and all about are the aged remains of those that didn`t make it.

Sea Cow
Sea Cow
I'm sure this is not the standard type of sea cow. I've never seen an animal like this so close to the sea and on such a rugged, inhospitable beach. This calf is getting rather desperate and is gnawing on some seaweed, nutritious.

Jane - Sitting on WHite Rock
High on the pinnacle of the great White Rock, Jane looks out to sea. This odd lump of limestone stands alone on a rough and wild piece of coast.

White Rock Lines
White Rock Lines
Far out to sea the submerged fracture of limestone thrusts up out of the seabed. As it heads out from sore it sinks below the surface and disappears from view.
