Another wonderful road trip around the North Island with Rosie. We started in Rotorua, wherw we stayed with her parents, then drove north and west until we reached the coast at Raglan. An amazing piece of coast and quite famous for the surfing (a competition was in progress at the time).

We stayed the first night ina camp ground as the local constables didn't take to kindly to the idea that we might be tenting on the sly in a prk or something. It was fine, gave us a base which we could leave unattended without getting paranoid. We spent the evening walking on the beach and drinking localy brewed beer.

From here we headed inland and then followd the coast, stopping every now and then to check out waterfalls (like the bridal veil falls show in a photo here). There were all sorts of great things to see, from rock formations to waterfalls and large trees. Eventually we hit the coast north of Taranaki. We camped the night in the back of the car, we should have been more prepared. I take full blame for this, I can get a bit wound up at the end of the day.

We were hanging out to see the mountain but it dind't show itself until we had passed it, a day later.

We encountered a large number of these slender, pink trees on our travels. This one is in Rotorua.

Taken in Rotorua, this image represents little of our trip. It just looked so red and flowery...

Kawhia Beach
We arrived out at the coast and it was blowing like crazy and looked like rain. We did explore the beach and sand dunes though and I imagine on a fine day it is an imazing place to be.

Road to Nowhere
Road to Nowhere
The weather was close about, a windy damp day and the mountain was hiding. We decided to try and locate a beach and drove to the end of this road, it went nowhere.
