Back to basics - building the van 2
Well, if you were starting to think I might be getting bored of it you are wrong. I'm still loving it and working away full steam. Today I began working on some sound solutions for speakers but gave up when I realised I was on the wrong track.

Day 01
Well, the long awaited day has come. My life is going to change dramatically. I am embarking on an adventure I will remember for the rest of my life. To test me configuration, I headed out to Makara beach.
Day 02
Day 02
I awoke after a rather long night of heavy rain. The clouds had thinned out a bit and the river was up, bubbling along about 10 metres from the van (see photo, the view from my bed...)
Day 03
Day 03
I sought out a place that had been recommended to me. Where ever it was it was out of my reach so I continued on up the road as far as Greytown.
Day 04
Day 04

Trees were down, floodwaters rising. Things were looking pretty rough. I limped out to the coast and hunkered down under a tree.

Day 05
Day 05
Well, It had stopped raining when I awoke at Parangahau beach. In fact, it looked quite nice. I watched as the sun came up from the sea (through a thin veil of cloud) and then began opening up the van to allow things to dry out and to evaporate...
Day 06
Day 06
Things are looking up, the sun has come out. See the sun climbing out of the sea at Karakau beach. My alarm went of shortly after, to remind me not to miss the sun. Thanks technology, late again.

Day 07 - Ocean Beach
Day 07 - Ocean Beach
Ocean beach expands before me, stretching out to the edge of sight and terminating at with the horizon. A flat sea reflects the sun in a million glitters of morning gold, a new day is born.

Day 08 - Napier and Hills
Having fully awoken and stoked the mind with a good shot of coffee (specially prepared on the primus cooking stove), I pushed the van up the hill and back to Hastings.

Day 09 - Back to the coast
We woke with the sun (as usual) in Little Bush. Things were quiet, farmland was all about and the signs were obviously not friendly. I fired up a coffee and then we set off to explore the surroundings.
