Malaysia is a fusion of culture, race and religion. It is a predominantly Islamic society and this is reflected in the architecture, clothing and multitude of mosques that frequently broadcast the call to worship.

The weather is hot and muggy although there are cooler regions in the central highlands. The ocean is warm like tepid bath water and leaves one feeling more gritty and sticky than ever.

Kuala Lumpur (Muddy River) is the capital city and is famous for its twin towers, currently the second tallest building in the world. Check out the Chinatown region for perpetual markets and crazy cuisine.

It's impossible to tell the time, my room exists in a perpetual state of darkness. A box without windows and the ceaseless fan. My only clue comes from the sound of the city outside, dulled by the intervening layers of concrete.
