South in Spring

mason (JPG)Spring time in North Canterbury is one of the best times. The grass is green, the weather is fresh and farms are mass producing next years mutton. We flew down for a 5 days stay to combine several family celebrations with serious real estate discussions.

Negotiations are now underway to secure a portion of my uncles farm, very exciting. So far we are all agreed on the general area but further thought and discussion is required before any commitments can be made.

I have several key projects that I wish to implement in the short and medium term. The main idea being a carbon sink forest, for the purpose of carbon sequestration. To assist with this and to provide interested parties with an evolving snapshot of the property I have set up www.blockhill.co.nz

My sister gave birth to her second son just hours before we touched down in Christchurch. Samuel is my second nephew.

A ride by the old bridge

While visiting my parents farm Melisa and I went for a ride on an old motorbike, along beside the railway lines and down to the Hurunui river bridge, across and up the other side to the old abandoned swing bridge. We were getting low on fuel so rather than risk the long round trip I decided to attempt to cross the decapitated old bridge. I wheeled the bike across, not daring to stop or look down. Once on the other side we putted across the fields and joined back up with the rail line.
